School/Housing Network
Building connections for stronger student support
Every student deserves the chance to learn without the burden of housing instability. Yet for too many children and youth across Washington, homelessness creates barriers that schools alone cannot solve. School staff and community organizations often carry immense responsibilities with limited time and resources, making collaboration essential.
The School/Housing Network brings people together to meet this challenge. Each month, advocates, McKinney-Vento liaisons, school staff, and community-based partners connect to share experiences, exchange strategies, and strengthen cross-system relationships. This peer-learning space not only provides immediate support for those working directly with students and families—it also ensures that local voices shape statewide advocacy. By centering lived experiences and lifting up what works in schools and communities, the Network helps drive smarter policies and more equitable systems that prevent homelessness and keep students learning, supported, and housed.
